This past weekend, me, Coby, my one and only friend here in Vernal-- Shauna and her husband, Travis, made a trip down to Steamboat Springs, CO. My grandparents are soooooo GREAT and arranged for us to use their membership at a condo down there and then my grandma and mom came down to watch the girls so we could make a run for it! Mae was soooooo excited for them to come--my mom made the mistake of telling her DAYS before that she was coming to see her and then I got to hear about it probably 500 times a day from Mae: "Gwama. Coming. See you." (Yes, we are at that broken record stage.) As soon as Mae found out that Grandma "Bobwa" (Barbara) was coming down, too, that then increased to "Gwama. Coming. See you. Bobwa. Gawy" (Gary)--who unfortunately was too sick to make the trip and was GREATLY missed I assure you! Needless to say, they couldn't get there soon enough!
Steamboat--Here we come!!!
Finally PROOF!!! That's right folks...She is REAL...my ONE friend here in Vernal--Shauna!!!

Coby and Shauna's hubby, Travis...Coby is excited about his peanut!
Us on Steamboat's Main Street. It was such a cute town and had ice sculptures all down the steet..I'm not sure, but I think that is a duck we are sitting on.
It wouldn't have been right to make the trip to Steamboat without visiting the Hot Springs, and kids, we did not disappoint and it was just about the highlight of the trip (it's a toss up between that and the food)! The hot springs were up in the mountains, surrounded by trees and snow and were sooooooo nice and warm I never wanted to leave! They had four different pools with four different temps, HOTTEST, HOT, WARM and COLD!!! I will have you know, I spent 1.5 seconds in the cold and then I was DONE with that!
Our "Posh Spice" pose---for some reason, we had a fixation with her this trip...check out Cobes' ghetto---I LOVE it!
Me and Shalauna! (I know you LOVE that...)
Don't pretend you don't like the boots...I AM a trend setter!
On the way down the mountain, we saw a bunch of carribou (WOW!) just laying around in the snow...No thanks, I'll stick with the hot springs!
While we were there, my happenstance, the Winter Festival was going on. There were a bunch of things going on, races down main street, etc... This is us at "The Lighted Man" event... Apparently, this is an annual event, one of which they struggle with. We waited for 45 minutes in the cold and then finally decided to take off (Hey, food was calling!), but while we were we walking back, they finally got their act together and a stream of skiers holding torches went down the mountain.
Chillin' at the condo, which was WAY, WAY, WAY nice, BTW!!!
We had such a GREAT time on our little mini-vacation! I am truly sooooo lucky to have SUCH wonderful and giving grandparents who would do anything for us! Even though we don't live as close as any of us would like, I'm soooo grateful for the relationship I have with them--- and the one my girls do as well. They have been such an important part of my life and I want that for my girls. I know all I have to do is say the words and they will come running! Mae LOVES spending time with them--not to mention her "Gwama" and my mom... Once I became a mother, it made me appreciate my own mom that much more and realize the sacrifices moms make for their kids. It is not easy to be a mom (no matter how GREAT your children are, and mine totally ARE great), and I feel so grateful for a mom who did so willingly and lovingly, even and especially during the hard times, and hopefully taught me how to do the same!
All in all it was one GREAT weekend, for me and Coby (ahhhh sleep!) and for my girls, too (Mae couldn't even pretend to miss us)! I can't promise that Grandma Barbara and my mom won't need their own vacation after my girls got at them! Thanks again! We LOVE you guys!
